BEATRIZ AND HER CHOCOLATES…

Beatriz is Argentinian and a native of Bariloche, one of the most important cities of Patagonia. Renowned as the “Switzerland of Argentina”, Bariloche became famous for the production of handmade chocolate after the arrival of Swiss immigrants at the beginning of the twentieth century.

After coming to Portugal she began to look for a creative outlet which would not only provide a living but fill a gap in the market. With this aim in mind, she began exploring the origins of chocolate and decided to open her own artisanal Chocolaterie in the beautiful village of Odemira.

Beatriz began experimenting in her kitchen with a small saucepan and a lot of patience.  Family and friends had to taste and indicated the way forward.

Today, Chocolates de Beatriz is recognised as a quality brand with clients from all over the world visiting the chocolateries in Odemira and in Faro, the latter opened  in 2017.

CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR CHOCOLATES

CHOCOLATE QUALITY

Beatriz’s idea is very simple: to produce good chocolate at an affordable price. She carefully selects chocolate with character which has a striking and recognisable aroma. The ingredients for the fillings are of the best quality and freshness without any artificial flavourings, fragrances or colours. As a result the chocolates have a shelf life of six to eight weeks, but this doesn’t seem to be a problem for her clients as they tell her the chocolates do not normally remain in the box uneaten for more than six to eight days!

WHERE CAN YOU FIND US?

THE CHOCOLATERIES: ODEMIRA (Baixo Alentejo Province) AND FARO (Algarve Province)

Faro Chocolaterie

The Chocolaterie opened in 2010 in the picturesque village of Odemira, situated in the Baixo Alentejo province, on the banks of the Mira river. In  2017 Beatriz decided to open a second shop in Faro.

The chocolaterie in Odemira is in an idyllic location  and is a jewel where the work is being predominantly carried out by hand without the help of any large machinery. At the chocolaterie you may watch the chocolates being made, taste a variety of samples and buy as many or as few of the chocolates you like.

You may also like to sit on our terrace while listening to the birds and enjoy the vista of the meandering Mira river below while tasting a chocolate menu which includes three different chocolates or our delicious brownies accompanied by a hot chocolate.

The chocolaterie in Faro is in a century old house in the “Mouraria” just a few metres away from the Brazilian consulate. The house is kept as much as possible in the old Portuguese style with the tiles typical of the beginning of the twentieth century and furniture of the same era. It is worth taking a break from the (not so… ) hectic city life in one of the cosy and cool rooms available and enjoy tea or French press arabica coffee accompanied by chocolates of your choice.
